Welcome to the Max Gate web
site.
| Andrew and Marilyn have been the
tenants of this National Trust property since 1994 when they were responsible for opening
it to the public for the first time. Now, through the internet, Andrew
and Marilyn wish to give a much wider audience an insight into the environment which
Thomas Hardy created for himself and where he wrote some of his greatest works including The
Woodlanders, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Jude the Obscure, The Dynasts and over nine
hundred poems. |
